Google Reveals Near-Term Forecast

Google Technical Director Ray Kurzweil has revealed his forecast for the period until 2030. Previously, he also made similar prediction for the near future related to IT. Strange as it may see, most of his predictions did really become a reality. That’s why the international community has been closely watching his predictions over the last few years, even though sometimes it’s very difficult to believe that the future will be the same as he described in his forecast.

So, according to the futurologist, in 2019 the world will go more wireless – they will stop selling personal computers with wires for peripheral devices. In 2020, new computers will become as powerful as the human brain. In 2021, the futurologist expects 85% of the world to be covered with wireless internet access. In 2022, the EU and the USA are likely to adopt the first laws regulating the relations between the human and the robot.

Further down the road, somewhere around 2024, they will forbid to manufacture cars without artificial intelligence components. This is expected to boost the safety of driving, and reduce the amount of car accidents. In 2025, there will be an implant device boom.

As of the year of 2026, the futurologist expects a major technological breakthrough. In particular, he expects the human to learn how to extend life. In 2027, each person will be able to afford a personal robot. In 2028, solar energy will become the major source of energy on the planet. In 2030, technologies will make it possible to produce any products in any quantity required, and at reduced cost.

As for the transportation forecast coming as a standalone forecast, the futurologist expects fossil fuels to be gradually ousted by green energy. Over the mentioned period all the way up to 2030, there will be a turning point when electro-cars are able to go 320 kilometers without recharging and get much cheaper than they are now. Crude oil will remain a commodity for the global chemical industry. Most probably, airplanes will still be using oil-based fuel for a while but land and sea vehicles will go green, especially as solar power will get cheaper and more available and affordable worldwide.
