Rex Tillerson urges Putin to use his power to influence the Donbass separatists and end the armed conflict that has been going on for several years in the East of Ukraine. Also, he urges Moscow to make the Crimean peninsula Ukrainian again. The United States Secretary of State assumes that the situation in the East of Ukraine has been escalated so far and needs urgent de-escalation for the sake of avoiding a full-fledged humanitarian disaster in the region.

At the same time, the Secretary also praises Ukraine’s achievements in politics, economy and social life even under the increasing pressure coming from Russia. He encourages Ukraine to keep on working on the recently implemented reforms to resist corruption and make the economy stronger.
