Fitch Downgrades Economic Forecast for Russian Economy


An international rating agency named Fitch has downgraded the economic forecast for the Russian Federation. In particular, the experts working for the international agency assume that the Russian economy will grow by 1,8% this year. The previous forecast used to be 2% in 2018. The economic forecast for the next year has dropped from 2% down to 1,9%. In 2020, the Russian economy is believed to gain only 1,5%. The long term forecast is also bearish – 1,2% a year on average.

Macron Warns Putin About Possible Tougher Sanctions Against Russia

 

During the recent joint press conference with Vladimir Putin, Emmanuel Macron said that in case the situation in the East of Ukraine is escalated, the EU may well toughen sanctions against Russia.

Sixteen Structural Reforms Is the Cost of the Next IMF Tranche to Ukraine

Anders Aslund, a Swedish economist and a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, commented on the current and future cooperation between the IMF and Ukraine. He claims that Kiev will have to implement at least 16 structural reforms in order to get another tranche from the International Monetary Fund. He also explained why the IMF is still cooperating with Ukraine.
